An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) won a record P8.2 million dividend in one of three winner-take-all events at the Philippine Racing Club (PRC) in New Santa Ana Park in Naic, Cavite last Sunday, PRC officials said on Monday.
PRC officials said it was his wife who placed a P1,440 bet for him at an off-track betting (OTB) station in Bacood, Sta. Mesa.
The bettor, who wishes to remain anonymous, works in the Middle East and watches the races through live video streaming on PRC?s website, santa-ana-park.com.
A member of an internet horseracing fans group, the aficionado reads the scanned racing programs posted at the site and continues to bet on Philippine races through his wife who places his wagers at a nearby OTB.
That particular WTA event pool, which highlighted the MARHO Breeders Cup festival, totaled over P8.5 million in sales due to carryovers from the previous day?s three WTA events during the Philippine Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Diamond anniversary races which yielded no winners.
A winner-take-all event in horse racing involves selecting the winning horses in seven consecutive races and is usually the largest betting pool.
There were no winners of the subsequent two other WTA events of November 29, resulting in carryovers totaling P1.7 million which are to be added to the WTA event of Santa Ana Park on December 8, Tuesday. (PNA)V3/JCA
