MANILA

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has launched a star-studded project dubbed as ?Shop & Share?, a project intended for the organization?s relief and rehabilitation efforts, at the Sining Kamalig Art Gallery in Gateway Mall, Cubao, Quezon City.

The project, spearheaded by Red Cross Ambassadors Angel Locsin and Anne Curtis, was an urgent endeavor to raise funds for the victims of twin typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.

It features a wide array of celebrity pre-owned clothes, bags, accessories, and precious memorabilia that will be auctioned off on eBay.

Locsin (born Angelica Colmenares on April 23, 1985), is a television and film actress, commercial model, film producer and fashion designer in the Philippines. She is currently featured in ABS-CBN?s series Only You with Sam Milby and Diether Ocampo.

Curtis, Anne Marie Ojales Curtis Smith in real life, (born on 17 February 1985 in Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia) is a Filipino-Australian actress, model, television host, and VJ. She is currently taping ABS-CBN?s romantic primetime series The Wedding co-starring Zanjoe Marudo and Derek Ramsay. She is also set to do a movie with Richard Gutierrez entitled Maybe This Time.

PNRC Governor Joanne Zapanta-Andrada relayed how Locsin and Curtis have been hands-on in making the project work.

According to her, the two haven?t been ambassadors for over a month when typhoons "Ondoy" and "Pepeng" happened, yet Angel and Anne said that whether or not they are ambassadors, they would still do everything they can to help in the situation.

?We have seen how hardworking they are: they actually humbled a lot of us in Red Cross. And I can attest that they are real epitomes of volunteerism and service,? Andrada said.

For her part, Locsin said she just want to have real happiness, the feeling of fulfillment one gets in helping others.

She further said that the project is neither about celebrities nor the auction. It is about every Filipino who is willing to extend hands to rebuild the lives of millions affected by the disaster.

Curtis also commended the people who participated in the project. ?Of all the celebrities we approached to donate, no one among them said no. This is the time in the industry where it doesn?t matter whether one is from GMA or ABS (CBN). Everyone is enthusiastic to help,? she said.

Shop & Share?s proceeds will be given to PNRC for the rehabilitation works, including the rebuilding of houses and installation of livelihood programs for the victims. Since its launch barely a month ago, the project has already sold over US$ 15,000.

The online auction would not be possible without the help of eBay Southeast Asia and Paypal, as technical partners of the project. Web commerce expert Eireen Diokno-Bernardo is paving the way for the Shop & Share to reach an 88 million strong international community.

?This will undoubtedly be one of the most significant on-line commerce events of the year,? according PNRC Governor Denis Mendiola.

To date, the project?s product line represents powerhouse ensemble of 50 high-profile celebrities.

Aside from Angel and Anne, celebrities who have participated in the launching were Maxene Magalona, Bubbles Paraiso, JC Tiuseco, Tim Yap, Christine Reyes, and more.

In closing, PNRC Secretary General Gwendolyn Pang remarked, ?I hope that this move of Angel and Anne would inspire a lot of people to help, especially those who have the capacity to do so.? (PNA) V3/JCA
